Time flies

So when I looked at our blog yesterday and realized that Rachel is 7 months now and the last post I did was when she was 6 months I decided I needed to update! So I think I'll just add some photos from the past month to show you what we have been up to.

We got our family pictures taken

The girls got to see Santa!

Rachel loved her candy cane!

Shaun and Addie put our stockings on! I made the stockings from our old Levi's.

She thought it would be fun to wear them!

Addie getting ready to go play in the snow for the first time this year!

Our little gangster.

Shaun got this picture of Addie watching TV on the couch, we loved the folded arms and serious look.

Rachel is sitting up and is such a happy girl!

6 Months

Rachel is now 6 Months old!
14 lb 7 oz
26 1/4 inches

She is still keeping us up at night but that is really our only complaint. She is very smiley, it doesn't take much to get her to smile. She is very curious and always wants what she doesn't have. She's eating baby foods now and loves it. She doesn't like tummy time, she just rolls to her back the instant you put her on her belly. She has learned to move around a little while laying on her back. She arches her back and pushes her heels against the floor. She usually only does it when she's mad but she still moves. She is so much fun and we're so grateful for her.

The past month

I seem to find less spare time lately to post our many adventures. With Shaun in school things keep busy at our house. Somedays it can be challenging to keep the little munchkins entertained. I await naptime everyday so I can get a little nap myself and just to enjoy the time to relax a little and sit down. Shaun is enjoying school and is doing great. He won't be done until Dec. 2009 but by this December he'll have his private flying license.

We went on a fun family day-trip to McCall, ID a few weeks ago. We stopped and ate at a fun little lodge for Breakfast, they even made Addie a Mickey Mouse pancake. We had fun walking by the lake skipping rocks, it is so beautiful up there. We made a fire and cooked hotdogs and smores, it was so much fun to be outside. The drive home was long because Rachel was sick of her carseat and cried for the 2 hour drive we were happy to be home!

Rachel is 5 months old today! She is sure growing up quick. She got to have her first food this last month - Rice Cereal - she does pretty good with it but is still learning how to eat off the spoon so now it's just entertaining to watch her eat. She loves to kick her legs on the ground and is a very busy baby. She always wants a toy to play with or someone to talk to her and she is at a really grabby stage. She reaches for everything including my hair which I'm considering cutting soon.

Addie is a very fun toddler! She loves learning new things. She's starting to learn her letters and can write a few of them but she catches on to things really quick especially songs which I catch her singing while she plays. She is getting a little more opinionated lately about what she wears, I guess she is true girl. She'll have a favorite shirt or pants for a week and want to wear them everyday. She also loves wearing pajamas and will change into them the minute we get home. So if you come to my house and she is in her pajamas that doesn't mean she never got ready that day she usually changes her clothes 3-4 times a day - oh the joys of her knowing how to change her own clothes! I go with her once a week to a mommy and me preschool, she loves it and can't wait to go each week. We get to do a fun craft each week and sing songs and play around it's so much fun! Last week my friend came and helped cut Addie's hair, we cut a few inches off because Addie hates having her hair combed and it gets in bad tangles with her little curls so we cut some of it off, it was sure getting long.

Linder Farms

Our ward had a fun play date this week. We brought the kids to a fun farm that goes all out for Halloween. They had a hay bale maze for the kids, each kid got to go pick their very own pumpkin off the vine, we went on a hay ride and saw a camel, a zebra, sheep, goats, and a donkey and then they let the kids color a pumpkin picture. It was so much fun, they also have corn mazes at night but we'll have to go back to do those. We even went back the next day to pick some corn on the cob. They said we could pick as much as we wanted for free, as long as we picked the same amount for the farm. So, me and 2 other ladies went back and amazingly picked 72 dozen so we could take 36 dozen home and each get 12 dozen to freeze for the next year. We sure had a lot of corn! But it was a really fun outing for the kids.

2 years

This past week marked 2 years since we bought our house. Although we did leave for 6 months we still owned it while we were gone. We love our home and the wonderful friends we have made here. Since we moved in we added new cabinets and counters to the kitchen, painted the kitchen and living room, replaced the air conditioner, and done some other fiddly things along the way. With a growing family I can't believe how fast we keep filling our house with stuff but it just makes it a cozy place to be. Our most recent addition was our first piano! We were able to get a good deal on it from some friends of ours and we love it. Shaun hasn't gotten a chance to play it much, because I won't let him pluck away when he gets home and the girls are sleeping but he'll get his chance. It's new and quite a novelty for the girls and I, it entertains us all day!

Farmer's Market

I had never been to a Farmer's Market before. My dad grew the greatest garden growing up, so we never needed to go anywhere to get fresh produce. But when we moved to the Boise area 2 years ago I saw them advertised all summer but hadn't ever gone to one until today we went to the Nampa's Farmer's Market for the first time. We did get some corn on the cob (yummy, my favorite) but there were so many fun things for Addie to do that I was so glad I brought her along. We got her some cute hair clips then she did a nickel find in the straw. She only found one nickel but was excited to have her own money! Then she got her face painted with a cute rainbow on it then a nice lady made her a cute ladybug balloon. There were so many fun things there I think I just might have to go back again. Next time I'll have to wait for a day Shaun has off work and get him to go with me.

Playing at the Park

We decided to go to the park the other day since we haven't been in awhile and I actually remembered to bring me camera to catch a couple pictures of Addie. She loves to swing, I have to convince her to try out the slides so I get a break from pushing her. She loves to play until any other kids come around then she won't do a thing unless I go with her. So it was a good thing we were there alone for awhile.

My brother's wedding

My brother Chuck got married on August 9. We love his new wife, Shelly, and are so excited to have her in our family. They got married in the Louisville, Kentucky temple, so I got to fly out to Kentucky to the wedding. I brought Rachel with me, Addie stayed with other family and Shaun stayed home to work. It is so pretty there with all the trees and bridges and so great to listen to the southern accents. My sister and I were the only family there in KY. We had a lot of fun trying not to get lost. We actually almost missed the wedding, I had to call the temple and ask them to wait for us. They also had a beautiful ring ceremony and reception there and then we came to Utah this last weekend for the open house. It was so much fun to have our family get together since it doesn't happen as often since my parents left on their mission.

Lake Lowell

Last night we headed out to Lake Lowell, which is only about 20 minutes from our house. We packed a picnic dinner, complete with sandwiches, string cheese, Cheeto's and cupcakes!! Addie loved playing in the water. She wanted to go see the boats and walking out as far as Shaun or I could reach just wasn't close enough but had to do.

Shaun made a fun little, sandcastle with Addie it was a little muddy but still was a castle. They would sit in the water and when waves would come up Shaun would tell Addie to look at the waves to which Addie would then get her hand out and "wave" at the water. We tried to get it on camera but of course she wouldn't do it when she realized we thought it was funny.

I held Rachel and let her kick her toes in the water for awhile. She seemed to like it but is still to young to really splash and play in the water. She just liked to watch.
