The first week

It's been a little over a week since Rachel was born. She is a wonderful baby and so so sweet, I love to just look at her. She sleeps great and usually will let me get a 4-6 hour stretch of sleep at night!!! That alone makes her a perfect little angel! We are so grateful for the help from our friends here, for bringing dinners and calling to check up on us. Our sister-in-law Julie came last week for a couple days she was a great help, we loved her help and company, we sure miss her. Everything seemed a little easier with her here but we adjusting to having our two little girls. Addie loves her little sister, she's a great helper and loves to hold her and is surprisingly really gentle with her. When we first brought Rachel home Addie just stood by her crib and just watched her for 10 minutes, then when she made a noise came running to let us know that "baby sister" was awake and that we needed to hold her. She always wants me to hold her. As soon as she makes a noise she lets me know that she needs to be picked up. Addie always pats her and says "He sweetie" it's the cutest thing.

As soon as we brought our little bundle of joy home I noticed that she was always putting her hands together and crossing her fingers. She has her dad's long fingers and toes and a "hitch-hiker" thumb like her dad, too.

Addie got quite the ouchy when she bumped the ironing board and the iron fell on her arm, it all happening just as I had started to nurse Rachel and Julie had gone into the bathroom so it was a good chance to test my reflexes and quick response to the situation. The band aide in the picture is just for looks, it was helping it feel better:) It looks pretty bad but she doesn't seem to notice it throughout the day.

After we gave Rachel a bath in the kitchen sink, Addie was feeling left out so we let her take a bath too. She had the time of her life!

New Baby!

This is Rachel June, she was born Saturday, May 17th, at 9:28pm. She is 7lbs. 2oz, not far off from her sister who was 7lbs 3oz. Unlike Addie, who was one week past due, Rachel was one week early of May 25th. She has brown curly hair and blue eyes (for now). We are so excited to have the new addition to our family!

Kelli was her usual amazing self. The pain was sharp, but short. We arrived at the hospital at 8:30pm. Kelli was at 6cm when they checked her at 9pm. Everything went incredibly fast after that. I was taken by complete surprise. It seemed like one contraction she was saying, "It hurts, it hurts!" The next was, "It stings, it stings," and the one after that was a HEAD! The two nurses did a really great job at handling the fast little new comer. The doctor didn't make it there until about 2 minutes after the birth. Kelli looks great and feels instantly better. I am so proud of her.


I'm the proud father. The whole thing seemed so fast. I was feeling worried without the doctor there, but Kelli, the baby, and the nurses did just fine. With it all over by 9:30, we all even got a good night's sleep! How nice.

ANTS!!

This week we have had ants take over our house. I'd noticed them in a little corner in the kitchen and had tried to keep it free of all crumbs and then one night we found lots of them in our entrance way to our house and in the kitchen and they were making paths everywhere. So we went to work to get rid of them and I've only seen a couple since then!!! Although the night after we cleaned it all up Shaun and I kept thinking we felt ants crawling all over us.



Addie was fascinated by all of them. She thought it was great that she could pick one up and it would climb up her arm and around her hand. Now she sits at the front door and hopes that there will be an ant there to play with.

3 more weeks!

I am now 37 weeks pregnant and getting very ready for this little one to come. I have been working since the end of January and get to finish up this week, which I must say I am very excited about! So after this weekend this baby is free to come whenever she wants!

Launching Rockets

Today we went out to the middle of no where with some friends to launch model rockets. Some were the size of Sharpie markers, and some were taller than me!



This model rocket is 9' tall and weighs around 12 pounds. It went so high that within a second we couldn't see it! You just had to keep watching the sky until you finally see it drifting down from its parachute.


This is Shaun and his old missionary companion Josh Jensen who lives in the same ward as us. Josh is holding Addie. Addie hid under the blanket when the rockets went off. She kept saying, "I scared." They were kind of loud and you never knew when ones going to come flying at you.
